I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Last week I was involved in a minor car accident. I was at a stop light and the car behind me decided they could not wait and they tried to get by my car to make a left turn. They did not have enough room and scraped against my car with theirs. No one was hurt and no police were called. We pulled over and I got their name, phone number and address. They did not give me their insurance information and said they'd like to settle outside insurance because there are only scratches. I know it was stupid but I said okay. Is there such a thing as an insurance that insures the driver not the car? My son is at college 8 months out of the year and is only home to drive a car 4 of those months. The car insurance company says we must put him as a Primary driver on one of our cars, which is rediculous because he hardly ever drives! I was wondering if I could remove him from my car insurance and get some other kind of insurance that just covers him when he drives our vehicles. Does anything like this exist and if so, where would I get it?

Will a DUI in MA 5 years ago affect my insurance rates in CA?

I was arrested for DUI in January 2008. This was my first and only DUI charge. I am planning to move to California later this year and I was wondering if this conviction will still affect my rates? I read something about the interstate driver's compact and about how Mass. is not a member so it might not share driving history with another state especially since so much time has passed and I have kept a clean record since then.
